BRI certified “Chip Doctors” use a proven 4 step method to quickly, accurately, and efficiently diagnose areas of opportunities within your facility and make instantaneous recommendations on all equipment from log intake to digester feed. BRI patented 4 step methodology ensures that all equipment is thoroughly analyzed and that your facility’s processes are set up synonymously to create optimal chip quality.

MACS (Measure, Analyze, Corrective action, and Sustainability)

Measure: In order to accurately offer guidance and advice for your specific situation, “ The Chip Doctors” will come on site and perform various tests and measurements on all equipment that is quintessential to your chip making processes. This testing by a certified “Chip Doctor” allows us to establish a baseline for your specific operation so that analysis can be done and a plan of action can be developed. BRI has 4 generations of experience to guide you through the various techniques, procedures, and methodologies that has allowed “The Chip Doctors” to become the undisputed leaders within our industry.

Analyze: Once a certified Chip Doctor has measured all necessary equipment at your facility a thorough analysis is done by Biomass Resources, Inc. BRI will identify all areas of opportunity, and suggest solutions to utilize these possibilities. BRI provides your company with a detailed report so we can work with your staff to rectify problems, hit chip specifications, and create the most efficient working environment possible. BRI’s analysis will then be imputed into the CHIP MACS data system where trend analysis will be developed using the data you provide. Using the functionality within the CHIP MACS software program you and your staff can analyze your daily chip quality, trends over time, and quantify the amount of savings you have achieved at your mill; allowing your facility to gain control of your processes and monitor your progress.

Corrective action: Once your company and BRI has exploited all areas of opportunity for improving efficiency within your system, CHIP MACS , allows your suppliers and staff to quickly and easily identify deviations within chip quality. If your Staff or BRI notice a change within you or your suppliers data a certified chip doctor should be consulted for advice on equipment maintenance and setup in order to quickly rectify the problem and restore overall quality of chips. Once you or your customer has been given guidance by a certified Chip Doctor, CHIP MACS walks the user through the operational processes as if a Chip Doctor were on site. Thus, CHIP MACS , allows you and your suppliers to catch problems quickly, solve them efficiently, and maintain optimal chip quality.

Sustainability: CHIP MACS Fax / E-mail Reports provide our customers with the management controls and reporting necessary to move suppliers from “below standard” to higher target in a matter of weeks. Suppliers want to provide you with the optimal product, but they need to know when they are not performing to your expectations. How do you do this without confrontation? You can objectively establish a Chip Quality Index (CQI) and then rate your suppliers against that standard. By e-mailing or faxing a weekly report to your chip suppliers you establish a standard, provide a measurement tool and can monitor your suppliers efforts to make improvements and sustain an ideal level of chip quality and production for your mill. In addition all fax/email reports are backed by the expertise of “The Chip Doctors.” So, suppliers have expert advice on how and what to change within their specific operation in order to counter balance adverse chip quality that you are seeing within their data.
